Hi my name is Brian Downes. My great grandfather and my grandmother Richard and Hanah DOWNES were from Tarbach Dingle. They had four siblings. Annie DOWNES, Alice DOWNES, Fredrick DOWNES and George DOWNES. I know a lot about George but nothing at all about Annie. Alice and Fredrick. Does Tarbach Dingle still exist? Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you in advance.
Thanks Mike. I need to visit. Don't know what to expect or what to look for. But yes I need to visit. Thanks.
It appears my great Grand father Richard Downes lived at 11 tarbach dingle born 1857 and was a platelayer on the railway. His wife was Hanah Downes nee Edwards. Siblings were Fredrick Downes, Annie Downes Alice Downes and George Downes my grand father. Any help whatsoever on my search would be very appreciated. Thank you to you and your members for any help that you can give.
Brian,
Hannah's sister Mary born 1858 was my wife's 2nd great grandmother, are you on ancestry?
Rob
Hi
I saw something that reminded me of Tarbach Dingle and that in turn led to a search for Tarbach Dingle and that's where I saw your post....
I'm not sure if it's of any interest to you but I lived at Tarbach Dingle from 1949 (aged 1 year) 'til 1953 (aged 5). I do have memories of the place and of the people who lived nearby. Your other corespondent is quite right, you can indeed find it on the OS map and it does show the buildings that are there. The buildings are all-but gone now and the house where we lived is the only one still recognisable as a house.
If you're interested in knowing more, please contact me at adrianjgoodyear@gmail.com and I;ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
Best wishes, Adrian Goodyear
Hi no I'm not on ancestry sorry. I really need to visit brosley before all is lost for ever. Richard and Hannah Downes née Edwards were my great grandfather and grandmother. sound like they were well known characters in the area. Thanks for getting in touch.
Funnily enough I have been doing some research today and discovered my Sarah RICHARDS married a Joseph DOWNES. They lived around Oswestry though - Hindford, Ellesmere, Whittington area. Not related I guess, but just thought it co-incidental.
Hello Brian
Tarbach Dingle is located between Broseley and the River Severn and you will see it on this Ordnance Survey map which is available on Bing maps. Zoom out to see the area around it.
